Fast cicle lepidoptera?

Hello guys.

I was just wondering if there is any species of butterfly / moth which completes its vital cicle fastly, so they can be reared lots of times within a relatively short period of time.

Hi,

I think pieris rapae might be a good fit for you.

They are caterpillars for a relatively short time. Same with there pupae in the summer months. Also spring. The butterflies breed easily on cabbage bought from stores. Also, the adults only live about 2 weeks.

I think most Nymphalids and Swallowtails take quite a bit of time. Nymphalids take a while if they overwinter. Also, they usually live longer. Swallowtails stay in their pupae quite a while, as well.

Try with the monarch butterfly, they take only 14 days as a larvae ant the pupae may take from 5 to 10 days to hatch, the eggs hatch on 2 or 3 days. They eat a lot asclepias, but you may found Araujia sercifera or Cynanchum acutum where you live, try to search with the inaturalist app. They go so fast if they are like at 20 degrees or more.

In fact they seem growing very fast. I got some of them on my garden since they were in a bunch of asclepias i bought ?
